As the news started to come out that Jorge Masvidal would replace Gilbert Burns at UFC 251 on July 11, the UFC’s digital team had to work overtime to keep everyone up to speed.
Now official, Kamaru Usman will finally face off against Jorge Masvidal for his UFC Welterweight Championship. Taking place on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi on July 11, both are en route to Yas Island to prepare for war.

Via the above video, the UFC covered everything that has led us to this moment. Their brawl during Super Bowl LIV media week led to talks for a July matchup before Burns was named the opponent. Usman discussed the idea of the BMF Champion drinking in his own kool-aid and others following his lead. Two quotes to come from the video:
“Usman, I can’t stand him,” said Masvidal. “I can’t stand that dude. When the time comes, I will break his f***ing face man, and in a violent way.”
“This guy is a fraud, he’s a phony, guys. This guy’s so much hype he knows he can’t hold a candle to who I am, to what I can do. He knows that,” said Usman.
Usman talked about canceling “The Resurrection” while Masvidal wants to separate himself from the pack. Now, the two will have just five days until they finally can prove who the best fighter is.
The co-main event of UFC 251 is still Alexander Volkanovski v. Max Holloway in a rematch for the UFC Featherweight Title. Another title fight on the card will be Petr Yan v. Jose Aldo for the vacant UFC Bantamweight Title.
