Chimaev On When He Will Retire

UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev (15-0) says he will retire once he no longer enjoys the sport.

Chimaev clarified his stance ahead of his first title defense at UFC 328 against former champion Sean Strickland on May 9. The two have a long-standing “bad blood” history stemming from their sparring sessions at Xtreme Couture. While Chimaev claims dominance, Strickland recently alleged he “made Khamzat quit” during those sessions.

After years of battling recurring illnesses, Chimaev assured fans that his health is fully stabilized following his dominant unanimous decision win over Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319 last August. That is why he will only retire once the passion is no longer there.

“Legacy, I never think about much. ‘It’s all about the legacy’, legacy gonna come by itself but I enjoy my job. I like to train, I like to fly to other countries, beat somebody up, take the money and come back again. When they day will come when I’m not enjoying my job, then I will finish. But right now, I’m happy with it,” Chimaev said
