Chris Eubank Jr Knocks Down Liam Williams More Than Three Times For Unanimous Decision Win
Chris Eubank Jr shut Liam Williams down.
Eubank knocked down Williams four times during the main event on Saturday in Cardiff, Wales, securing a wide decision win in the 12-round middleweight matchup.
“I wanted to teach this man a lesson,” Eubank said.
“He said some very menacing things to me leading up to this fight and I wanted to punish him. … It was a fun night.”
Eubank (32-2, 23 KOs) sent Williams (23-4-1, 18 KOs) down with a short-left jab in the first round. Then he did it again with a combination in the second round. Then, one more time with a jab in the fourth round.
Williams, however, tried to endure the beatdowns, managing to land a number of clean punches of his own. But his chances of a comeback win were shattered in Round 11.
Williams was knocked down for the fourth time.
Judges scored the fight 116-109, 116-108 and 117-109, all in Eubank’s favor.
Now Eubank, the son of the former champion of the same name, could be set up to fight the winner of Gennadiy Golovkin and Ryota Murata.
