Chris Eubank Jr. Predicts Canelo Alvarez vs. Callum Smith
Chris Eubank Jr. has made his prediction for Canelo Alvarez vs. Callum Smith.
Alvarez will challenge Smith for the WBA (Super) Super-Middleweight Title. The vacant WBC gold will also be on the line. About 12,000 fans will be in attendance for Canelo vs. Smith inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Eubank, who holds the interim WBA Middleweight Championship, spoke to Sky Sports and gave his prediction for Canelo vs. Smith.
“It will be a dominant performance from Canelo. After watching Smith against John Ryder, that exposed a lot of weaknesses in his game. Canelo is a better, more advanced version of Ryder. Smith will have a lot of trouble in this fight. I don’t see him being effective.
“But he does have heavy hands so that would be the only way he has success – but Canelo has a good chin. Smith is a legitimate world champion so is the right fight for Canelo.”
If Canelo is able to pick up the win on Saturday night, December 19, he’d be the first man to defeat Smith. Going into this bout, Canelo has a record of 53-1-2, while Smith is 27-0.
Regardless of the outcome, Eubank is in the driver’s seat for a big title fight. He hasn’t been shy in expressing his desire to fight Canelo, who is the WBA (Super) Middleweight Champion. Eubank could also take a crack at WBA (Regular) Champion Ryota Murata.
Eubank hasn’t been in action since winning the interim gold back in December 2019. He’s currently riding a three-fight winning streak.
