Christian Hammer Tied Record For Fewest Punches Landed In 10 Round Fight
Christian Hammer (26-9, 16 KOs) claimed an unwanted record in his recent showdown against rising heavyweight star Frank “The Cuban Flash” Sanchez (20-0, 13 KOs).
During the 10-round bout, he landed only 24 punches which tied the record for the fewest punches landed in a 10 rounder. Bogdan Mitic also struck 24 punches in his loss to Frankie Gavin in March 2015. The Serbian star then announced his retirement in 2018.
On the flip side, Sanchez recorded a whopping 87 punches and 36 body punched to Hammer’s five. In the third round, it seemed like Hammer had enough of the body shots of Sanchez, but he managed to pull through.
Judges scored the contest 100-89 in Sanchez’s favor.
After the win, the unbeaten boxer showed gratitude to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for motivating him.
“To see Canelo there, supporting me like he was definitely motivated me even more,” the Cuban boxer said.
“He always supports me and everyone that’s with him in his gym. It makes me want to keep improving.”
“I feel very happy. Starting the year like this with another win in front of all the Cuban fans here in Miami is amazing.”
