Christian Lee Stops Kiamrian Abbasov To Become Two-Belt Champion
Christian Lee made a massive statement with his performance on Friday against Kiamrian Abbasov.
Lee (17-4 MMA, 17-4 ONE) had the chance to win two championships in the main event of ONE on Prime Video 4 at Singapore Indoor Stadium against former welterweight champion Kiamrian Abbasov.
The bout got underway quickly as Abbasov (23-6 MMA, 4-3 ONE) applied intense pressure on Lee by landing powerful blows.
When the battle resumed on the feet, Lee was able to halt the pace with a takedown, but Abbasov caught him with a big left hand that knocked him to the ground.
Lee stood back up, but Abbasov kept pounding Lee with forceful blows. The stoppage appeared imminent as the referee moved in closer, but Lee somehow recovered enough awareness to grab Abbasov and get a takedown to end the round.
In the second and third rounds, Lee wore down Abbasov with blows and takedowns to re-enter the bout. The tide gradually began to turn in Lee’s favor.
In the fourth round, Lee increased the pressure to capitalize on his previous success. Lee threw ferociously, and the unreturned leg kicked at Abbasov when he had his back to the fence. After a brief exchange of punches, Lee quickly secured a takedown. From that point on, Lee sat up and emptied the tank until the fight was over at 4:20.
Lee became the double champion of the ONE, holding welterweight and middleweight titles.
“I gotta give Abbasov credit, he was the champion for a reason,” Lee said during his post-fight interview. “Very tough dude. As you can see, I left it all in the ring, man. I can hardly carry these two belts. I didn’t know where I was, but a true champion never quits, and so, I found a way to come back.”
