Claressa Shields Disappointed In Delayed Savannah Marshall Fight
British boxer Savannah Marshall has numerous accolades on her corner throughout the course of her career. Due to her success, she has also won a lot of fans and one of them was Claressa Shields.
Shields, the unified female middleweight champion, was extremely disappointed about the postponement of her fight against Marshall, which was supposed to take place last Saturday in the UK.
“She’s going to deal with this like a champ that she is. She’s going to take some time off and rebuild, rethink and come out to rumble on October 15,” said promoter Dmitry Salita to Boxing Social.
“Claressa is obviously upset. She had to make weight and go through a long training camp. It’s obviously quite challenging when you prepare your mind and your body for the spirit of this tough challenge.”
The fight was postponed due to Queen Elizabeth’s death. As a result, Shields and Marshall will now lock horns on October 15.
“Being thousands of miles away from home and getting in the ring to perform at such a high level, and unexpectedly, it falls apart. It’s obviously very challenging. Claressa is a true professional.
“We have to do the best we can under the circumstances. We understand that the country is grieving.”
