Claressa Shields (18-0, 3 KOs) will return to middleweight to challenge unified WBC and WBA titleholder Kaye Scott (5-1-1, 0 KOs) on August 15th, from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
The 31-year-old last campaigned at 160lbs back in 2023, shutting out Maricela Cornejo. Since then she’s fought nominally as a heavyweight — though never above the 175lb light heavyweight, as she became undisputed at heavyweight.Shields last fought on February 22, beating Franchon Crews-Dezurn by decision in a rematch.
Scott, a 42-year-old Australian, turned pro only in November 2023 following a decorated amateur career. She lost her first world title bid to Desley Robinson in late 2024, then drew with Olivia Curry for the vacant WBC and WBA belts before avenging that result with a majority decision in the rematch.
