Claudia Gadelha Wants Third Fight With Joanna Jedrzejczyk
Claudia Gadelha may be focused on her fight against Carla Esparaza at UFC 225, but she has another opponent in mind for the future: Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Gadelha and Jedrzejczyk have fought twice in the past with Jedrzejczyk picking up the win on both occasions in 2014 and 2016. Gadelha, who still believes she deserved the win in their first encounter back in 2014, said she would be up for a third fight against Jedrzejczyk.
”Fighting Joanna still interests me a lot. I’m sure I won the first time. The second fight I really lost, but it’s a fight that interests me. If she’s champion again, or even if she’s not champion, it’s a fight that interests me,” Gadelha said.
Although Gadelha sports a 3-3 record in the UFC, the UFC strawweight believes she will remain among the division’s elite for a good while due to her losses being to either Jedrzejczyk or Jessica Andrade, who previously fought in the bantamweight division before moving down to strawweight.
”I’m at the top of the division for a long time,” Gadelha said. “I’ve lost twice to [Jedrzejczyk], my third loss was to a girl that came from two divisions above. I consider myself more technical than [Andrade], but she’s stronger than me. I think she’s the strongest girl in the division. Maybe because she came from two divisions above.
