In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Syndicate MMA coach John Wood expressed that he believes Gina Carano is capable of making a return to combat sports.
Wood, who also coaches former bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, was recently spotted in some training footage that Carano (7-1) posted to Instagram. Since the video was uploaded, many have begun to speculate on the subject of Carano making an MMA return for the first time since 2009.

During the interview, Wood did say she was capable of making a return, but is unsure if she has any plans to at the age of 43.
“Well, do I think she can still fight? Absolutely,” Wood said. “Do I think she’s still got pop and can lay it on somebody? Absolutely. Is that what’s happening? I don’t know. That’s a Gina Carano question.”
Between 2006 and 2009, Carano competed in then rival promotions to the UFC such as EliteXC and Strikeforce, and racked up 7 straight victories while doing so. Of course, this was prior to her meeting with Cris Cyborg, in which she was finished in the first round, and has not appeared in a competitive setting since.
While her MMA career came to an end, Carano now spends most of her time working as an actress, appearing notably in Fast and Furious 6, as well as The Mandalorian.
