Cody Garbrandt Out Of UFC 255 Title Fight

Cody Garbrandt will no longer be challenging Deiveson Figueiredo for the UFC Flyweight Title on November 21.

Figueiredo vs. Garbrandt was supposed to headline UFC 255. That plan has gone awry as Combate reports that Garbrandt has been pulled from the card for unknown reasons. He is being replaced by Alex Perez.

It’s a tough break for Garbrandt, who was fresh off a sensational knockout victory over Raphael Assuncao. With the win, “No Love” was able to snap a three-fight skid. At first, Garbrandt was having second thoughts about making the move down to flyweight. He ultimately decided the timing was right to cut down to 125 pounds. He’ll have to wait a bit longer to do so.

Perez was going to meet Brandon Moreno on the UFC 255 card. He goes into his title fight with Figueiredo riding a three-fight winning streak. He has a pro MMA record of 24-5. Perez is 6-1 under the UFC banner.

Figueiredo has won his last four bouts. In his most recent outing, he defeated Joseph Benavidez via technical submission to capture the UFC Flyweight Championship.

Also set for the UFC 255 card is a Women’s Flyweight Title fight. Champion Valentina Shevchenko will put her gold on the line against Jennifer Maia.
