Colby Covington (17-5) has not ruled out a return to MMA despite announcing his retirement from the sport on May 19, insisting that if he does come back it will only be inside the UFC octagon.
“It’s 50/50. I don’t think I have because I know I have a lot left in the tank. I know there’s a lot of good miles still left on the trea. I could never go anywhere else. I’m a UFC fighter for life. And I’m thankful to be a UFC fighter. They made me a very successful man. I wasn’t let go. I’m still a UFC fighter. I’ll always be a UFC fighter. If I come back to fight again, it will be in the UFC,” CovingtonÂ
Covington retired to focus on wrestling, having signed with Real American Freestyle. He is 3-0 on the RAF mat with wins over Luke Rockhold, Dillon Danis and Chris Weidman. He is set to headline RAF 11 on July 18 in Milwaukee against number-two UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan. Further wins in RAF could tempt Colby back to the UFC, having previously expressed his disappointment of having missed out on the June 14 UFC Freedom 250 card.
