Combate Americas To Reschedule Three Events Due To The Coronavirus

The the coronavirus continues to alter sporting events overseas, the results are starting to hit home. Combate Americas, a Latin American combat sports organization, announced several changes to its upcoming schedule.

Three events meant to take place on March 13 in Arizona, March 20 in Mexico and March 27 in Texas have been rescheduled. The dates for each event will be announced soon. Fans who purchased tickets to the events will be offered a full refund. They will have the opportunity to purchase tickets before the general public.

“We put the health and safety of our athletes, fans and staff above all other considerations,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren in a statement.  “Combate Americas’ mission is to bring together people throughout the U.S., Mexico, South America and Spain, and that requires frequent travel to an array of locations, both foreign and domestic.  Our live studio version of Combate Americas will continue to deliver mucha más acción.”

Additionally, Combate will be producing live MMA events from a closed studio. Set to debut on April 3, the format does not have an announced television studio location yet.

Combate joins ONE Championship as a major MMA promotion that has had events cancelled as a result of the coronavirus. According to the latest from CNN, over 108,000 people have been infected with the virus, with over 3,800 deaths.
