Combate Fighter Magana Out Of Coma

Former UFC and Combate Americas Fighter, Angela Magana has awoken from a coma on Thursday, nearly two days after complications during emergency surgery.

“Angela is responding to the treatment and is waking up!!!,” Magana’s manager Gabriel Lamastus said in a text message to MMAJunkie. “We are over joyed (sic). She has been in and out of it.”

He added, “This started happening this morning.” Lamastus said Magana has been able to talk, as well.

Magana underwent emergency surgery this week after treatment to repair a herniated disk in her back had complications.

Being diagnosed with cuada equina syndrome, Magana would undergo surgery at University Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where complications from the anesthesia, not waking up until Thursday morning.

Magana was attempting to train through the herniated disc, as she was preparing to face Kyra Batara at Combate Americas’ Combate 35 event on April 26th in Los Angeles.
