“The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit will make his return to the UFC on Dec. 30 at UFC 219, taking on Neil Magny. It will be the first time that Condit has competed inside the Octagon in over a year.
The last time Condit stepped foot in the UFC was in August 2016, when he lost a UFC Fight Night main event bout to Demian Maia via submission in just under two minutes. Prior to that, Condit received a UFC Welterweight Title match with then-champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 195 in January 2016. Despite an epic Fight of the Night encounter between the two, Condit lost via decision.
Condit has made it clear, he wants to leave the last two years behind him.
“I didn’t train for a little while, and then as soon as I started training, it was like…this is what’s been missing,” Condit said. “Things were clicking in training, man. I was learning new stuff and improving, and I just got the itch.”
The former interim UFC welterweight champ told MMA Junkie that after a rough two years in his life, he hopes to bring the intensity and no-nonsense action that has earned him popularity
“This second I’m calm, but these last couple weeks leading up to fight week I’ve been chomping at the bit. I’m really excited,” Condit said. “I have a lot of energy, a lot of fire, and I’m excited to go in and do some violence.”
Neil has been calling me out for a while. I like the match-up. He’s so fast-paced. He’s well-rounded. A lot of times, guys are playing catch-up. He’s a step ahead…[I have to be] at a controlled distance and I have to be a step ahead of Magny.
