Mackenzie Dern held a thrilling fight with her compatriot Marina Rodriguez at Saturday’s UFC Vegas 39. This fight was nominated as the fight of the night, and both fighters earned an extra $50,000.
However, Dern, the favorite of the battle, suffered a loss.
On Instagram, Dern said that she is happy to witness such an experience, and the extra payout made her even happier.
“Thank you everyone for all the support! Yesterday wasn’t the result I was training for, but this fight is the biggest learning experience for me! Now I have a lot to look back on and fix to become a better fighter!” she wrote.

During the battle, Dern had her moments.
In the second round, she was dominating for four minutes. Judges scored that round as 10-9, but some MMA fans and experts considered this round as 10-8. After that kind of dominant round everyone expected that Dern would earn an easy victory.
However, Rodriguez changed the strategy and outstroke her rival.
Rodriguez showed her skills while defending herself on the ground and attacking with combinations.
