Conlan KO’s Berna To Remain Undefeated

Returning to where he made his pro debut in 2017, Michael Conlan would stay undefeated as a pro and inside Madison Square Garden.

Conlan would go to 6-0 when he stopped David Berna with less than a minute remaining in the first round on St. Patrick’s Day.

An Olympic bronze medalist, Conlan would send Berna to the mat two times in the first round and would force the referee to stop the fight before the bell.

When asked about the result by the BBC, Conlan claims he felt this would be the result.

“I knew this would happen,” the former amateur world champion said. “He started committing, and I hit him and dropped him with a beautiful body shot in the first round. After that, I knew I was going to stop him.

“It is something really special to be fighting on St Paddy’s Day. Now I want to do it in Ireland. We will sell out any stadium in Ireland.”

Conlan started his career with four stoppage wins before being taken the distance by Argentina’s Luis Fernando Molina in a six-round contest last December.
