Conor Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) has told WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia (25-2, 1 NC) on social media: “Sign it” as the pair continue to be linked with a fight.
Benn, who solidified his position as the WBC #1 mandatory challenger with a win over Regis Prograis on April 11, is wasting no time in pressing for his first world title shot. However, the primary hurdle for this matchup is the relationship between their respective promoters. Benn recently signed with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing, marking his departure from Matchroom.
Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions has been openly critical of the Zuffa deal, questioning Benn’s ability to secure the Garcia fight while signed to the promotion. Garcia is pushing for an August 2026 return, but if Ryan bypasses Benn for a non-sanctioned fight, he risks being stripped of the WBC belt.
