Conor Benn Unsure Of His Return, Waits For Decision On Failed Drug Test

The Britain welterweight sensation, Conor Benn is yet to receive any verdict on his failed drug test after almost two months since the incident happened.

A career that looked promising and about to take flight was severely halted after the 26-year-old was found to have a banned substance in his blood.

Benn was poised to face his native rival, Chris Eubank Jr. in pursuit of renewing the rivalry that was started by their parents but was stopped from doing so just three days before the fight after an independent VADA testing report showed the presence of Clomiphene in Benn’s system.

It was the second time in almost two months that Benn failed to clear the necessary drug tests which are needed to keep transparency in these big fights.

It was later revealed that Eubank Jr. wanted to proceed with the fight after a one-to-one discourse with Benn on the telephone.

But the fight was called off at the last moment when the reports were leaked in the media. The BBBofC (British Boxing Board of Control) stepped in and prohibited the fight from happening.

Since then, Benn’s case is being reviewed under both WBC and the BBBofC councils but both of them are yet to give any satisfactory conclusion to all this drama.

Benn wants his name clear before he can mount the horse again. He has also vowed not to fight again under the BBBofC which he deemed as absolutely awful in his scenario.

Benn went on to tell SunSport: “I won’t be boxing under the British Board ever again. I will not box for them ever again.

“The way they have gone about this. The way they knew about this. They could have pulled the fight. I’ve given my licence back. I won’t be boxing for them ever again.

“As far as I’m concerned the board can do one. I’ve got nothing to hide, but as far as I’m concerned they’ve got it in for me.”

Benn and his promoter, Eddie Hearn are putting all their efforts to get a verdict from WBC, with less attention being given to BBBofC as of now.
