Conor Hints At Big New UFC Deal

Conor McGregor is set to make his long-awaited return to the octagon this July, and he seems very pleased with the new deal he inked with the UFC.

The Irishman is set to square off with Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11th in Las Vegas. While the former two-division champion has not been in the cage since 2021 when he suffered a second straight loss to Dustin Poirier, and more memorably the broken ankle that many suspected would end his time in combat sports, he seems focused and ready to make the comeback he feels his fans deserve. For Max Holloway, this match with ‘The Notorious’ is an opportunity that was long in the making, as the former BMF champion fell short on the judges’ scorecards to McGregor back in 2013, quite early into both competitors’ UFC careers.

McGregor had his originally planned return match scheduled for 2024 against Michael Chandler, following the pair coaching opposite one another on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. But unfortunately, the bout did not come to fruition because of another, much less significant, injury to one of his toes.

Since the UFC’s switch from the PPV model to a subscription-based system on Paramount+, many contracts needed to be renegotiated, including McGregor’s now that he has a fight on the books. It seems the renegotiation process went quite well for the Irishman, as he recently expressed his satisfaction with his new deal.

“The big fight is coming,” McGregor said in an interview with former Navy SEAL Rob O’Neill. “Let’s cheers to that. ‘The Mac’ is back, baby. Let’s go.”

“I’ve got a great deal off the UFC. I’m very, very happy,” he added.

“I’m out so long, five years. My body’s fresh, my mind is sharp. I’m ready to come back,” he said. “Preparation has gone very well. We’re living, breathing, and sleeping in the gym.”
