Conor McGregor has responded to former UFC lightweight titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov’s comments towards Irish MMA fighters, but he didn’t exactly leap to his countrymen’s defense.
In an interview posted by the PFL last week, Khabib took aim at the Irish fighting community by citing that their country is not even close to on the same level as Dagestan.
Of course, this has only further fuelled the fire for the matchup between Ireland’s Paul Hughes and Khabib’s cousin and training partner Usman Nurmagomedov, which is set to occur on January 25th at Bellator Champions Series in Dubai.
“Let’s be honest, Dagestan level of MMA is up here, but Ireland’s level… not even half of Dagestan level.”

Now, McGregor has responded to his former opponent’s remarks, but has focused more on the Irish fighters that have stood with Khabib in the past. He did not mention any names in the since deleted post on X, but whoever he is referring to, he seems to be laughing at what he believes to be their very well deserved expense.
