Conor McGregor Slips To 6th Spot In UFC Lightweight Rankings After Poirier Loss
The UFC hasn’t been kind to former double champ Conor McGregor after the Irishman lost his second consecutive fight in 2021. He has dropped down to the six spot in the promotion’s lightweight ranking.
McGregor has failed to walk his talks in 2021 and that has impacted his ranking as expected. He was previously sitting at the fifth spot, but the recent loss to Dustin Poirier via doctor stoppage made him nosedive two more spots on the UFC’s chart. He has now been surgically operated on after fracturing his left tibia and fibula at the end of the first round against Poirier.
Poirier is sitting pretty at the second spot, just above lightweight champion Charles Oliviera. The Diamond has become the No. 1 title contender but the fans are still unsure whether he will take on the Bronx in late 2021 or early 2022.
Former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson has replaced McGregor at the fifth spot. However, he is not likely to last at this position for long since losing all three of his last fights has not done him any good either.
