Cormier Battles Bullet Club On Twitter
UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier is a major wrestling fan, but he is not a fan of current New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring Of Honor stars, the Young Bucks.
The Young Bucks, member of the Bullet Club stable, are made up of Matt and Nick Jackson, who are considered as trendsetters in pro wrestling with their innovative in-ring style. And while the Jackson’s and their fellow Bullet Club members are some of the top selling shirts at Hot Topic, its not likely that Cormier will be wearing one to the Octagon this Saturday at UFC 220 in Boston.
Following Ring Of Honor’s most recent “Final Battle” event, Cormier took to Twitter to poke fun at a sequence performed during the Jackson’s six man tag team match.
@philbaroni this is actually pathetic. This is what people wanna see? Go to a god dang gymnastics competition. Suplex, bodyslam, piledriver do some old school wrestling man. DDT, I remember when the frankensteiner was the most you’d ever see someone flip. I say Boo to this BS https://t.co/eF4pnCy0SA

From there, the Jackson’s, Cormier, (as well as the very vocal MMA and wrestling fan community), and even MMA and Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, engaged in a hotly contested Twitter argument, which was reignited on Monday night started by twitter user and background actor Dennis Bonano, as Cormier discussed the incident to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour.
“I’ve always loved it. Right now I’m not watching as much anymore because these guys kinda pissed me off a little bit… They turned me off to the whole thing. I’m like, what is wrong with these dudes? Everybody’s not going to like everything you do. Just so happens that I’m a professional wrestling fan that has a bit of a following himself.”

UPDATE: Cormier has apologized to the Jackson’s for being easily aggravated amidst a fight week weight cut.
I apologize for the hate you have gotten. I have received a ton too. It’s not one way. I am in the middle of fight week and get get agitated easily. I apologize. I wish you nothing but continued success. From all I see you guys are doing amazing. Good luck in the future. DC https://t.co/DHkb6poyIt

With the trend of MMA fighters and pro wrestlers going from one platform to the other, and the growing rumors of Ronda Rousey joining the WWE for either a match at Wrestlemania, or to be a full-time member of the roster, it may be possible we see Cormier enter the squared circle at the Bullet Club’s “All-In” standalone event in September of this year.
