Daniel Cormier says the hatred between him and Jon Jones will never die.
ESPN+ will be releasing a special E:60 detailing Cormier’s life and career ahead of his heavyweight title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 241. The piece details Cormier’s Olympics run and Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix victory, as well as his long-running rivalry with Jones.
The grudge between the two sides blew up in a series of incidents in August 2014, which included an infamous brawl at the MGM Grand and Jones commenting that he would “literally kill” Cormier.
The rivalry has not rested from Jones ending Cormier’s undefeated record at UFC 182, to Jones’ continued self-destruction, including his 2015 hit-and-run incident and suspension and two failed drug tests.
Considering all the circumstances, Cormier feels he and Jones will never be able to make amends.
“When you tell a man you’re going to kill him, there’s no peace. It’s always going to be this,” Cormier said. “I don’t like him. We’ve never liked each other, and for anybody to tell you anything different is a lie.”
