Cormier-Miocic 2 Confirmed for UFC 241

As announced on the UFC Ottawa broadcast, Daniel Cormier’s next defense of the UFC Heavyweight Title has been confirmed, as he will face the man he took the title from, Stipe Miocic, at UFC 241 on August 17.

Cormier, then UFC light heavyweight champion, won the heavyweight title from Miocic at UFC 226 back in July. He became the second UFC fighter to hold two divisions’ championships simultaneously.

Following the fight, Cormier got into an in-Octagon confrontation with Brock Lesnar. Negotiations for a fight between Cormier and Lesnar, however, recently fell through in part due to the UFC’s new ESPN+ deal for pay-per-view broadcasts.

Miocic hasn’t fought since losing the heavyweight title last summer; meanwhile, Cormier made one successful defense of the heavyweight title, defeating Derrick Lewis in the main event of UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden in November.

No location for UFC 241 has been made official just yet.
