Covington Blasts GSP For Wanting To Go To Lightweight

Even though Colby Covington was alleged to be ducking Tyron Woodley with an injury, the current interim UFC welterweight champion claims Georges St-Pierre is ducking welterweights.

Convington, who was supplanted by Darren Till  as the opponent for Tyron Woodley at UFC 228, wants to fight GSP at welterweight and is happy to insult him for wanting to go down to lightweight.

“I know GSP is looking for a dance partner in Toronto,” Covington told Radio.

“He claims to be the greatest welterweight of all time, but we all know that’s just claims. He doesn’t even wanna fight at welterweight anymore. He’s a little f*****g b***h. He’s trying to fight lightweights, and he’s doing anything he can to avoid the welterweight division, ’cause he knows I’m here now. He knows I’m the welterweight champ.”

While GSP would prefer to face the winner of the UFC 229 showdown between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, UFC president Dana White wants to see the Canadian native fight at UFC 231 in Toronto. Either way it is unlikely that Covington would fit St. Pierre’s idea of a “legacy” fight, the only reason he’d return to fighting in the first place.
