Crawford-Brook Not On Hearn’s Tab
Terence Crawford has not been in the ring since April of this past year when he defeated Amir Khan in a controversial stoppage inside Madison Square Garden.
Since then, a rumored fight between Crawford and former world champion Kell Brook has been in-play, but Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn is not interested in picking up that tab.
“That’s for Top Rank to pay,” Hearn told BoxingScene.com and other reporters in New York last weekend. “He’s their fighter, he’s on ESPN and he can’t fight anywhere else. But they’re running out of money over there this time of the year.”
Crawford is most likely returning to the rin on December 14th, to face former Olympian and Crawford’s mandatory challenger, Egidijus Kavaliauskas, which makes little sense to Hearn. “Terence Crawford boxed in APRIL He’s supposed to be pound-for-pound number one, they ain’t got a date yet,” points out Hearn. “They’re talking about December, that’s being out of the ring (eight) months.
“But that’s not for me to pay Terence Crawford money.”
