Crawford Denies Reports That The Spence Fight Is Done As Charlo Could Face The Latter
Terence Crawford has dashed the hopes of fans who were anticipating a fight between him and Errol Spence Jr.
According to a report published on RingTV, it has been alleged that the two fighters were scheduled to fight on June 17th, 2023, in Las Vegas.
An announcement for a Spence vs Crawford fight was reportedly going to be made during the Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia bout on April 22nd, 2023.
While that may have been the case, Crawford used social media to respond with the words “April fools,” indicating that the rumors of the fight were untrue.
It is April Fools! 🤣

It’s possible that Crawford is attempting to mislead fans by giving the impression that he isn’t going to fight Spence in order to increase the hype surrounding it.
This would be in line with the playbook that Floyd Mayweather Jr had capitalized on so successfully before agreeing to his mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao.
However, given that this fight has been notoriously difficult to organize, it’s uncertain whether this wishful thinking will come to fruition.
But if the fight does not get made, one man is ready to step in and face Spence: step forward, Jermell Charlo.
Charlo initially rejected the idea of fighting Spence because they both have the same trainer, Derrick James.
But given that Spence has been more open to the possibility, Charlo has changed his stance, provided that the money is right.
“Of course [I would be open to fighting Spence]. If the money right, we’ll get in there and get it on. That’s never been brought to me. It’s not something I would deny.
“I know Errol said the same thing. Hey, who knows. Later on in the future, in life, we can do what we do. Right now we’re stablemates, we’re brothers, we ain’t doing all that,” Charlo on The Last Stand Podcast
