Crawford Open To Facing Spence At 154, Bud Targets Jermell Charlo
Terence Crawford is open to facing Errol Spence Jr. at 154 lbs.
‘Bud’ created history with a ninth-round stoppage to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era and achieve the acclaim of being undisputed in two-weight divisions.
Naturally, after the fight, the talk turned towards the potential for a rematch. The dominant manner in which Crawford beat Spence suggested that a rematch may be off the cards.
However, Spence expressed his willingness to run things back at 154. The terms of the first bout dictated that the loser could exercise the rematch clause, while the victor would choose the weight.
With that being said, Crawford was open to another bout at 154.
“It definitely doesn’t have to be at 147. I’m in the hurt business. 147 was kinda hard for me, too. I was already talking about moving up in weight and challenging (Jermell) Charlo, so 154 wouldn’t be out of reach,” Crawford
A rematch at 154 would provide Crawford the perfect chance to face Jermell Charlo if he were to dominate Spence once again.
And with Charlo facing Canelo Alvarez on September 30th, 2023, at 168 lbs, there is a chance that the American will return to 154 if he loses. So as of now, Bud has plenty of reasons to keep active.
