Crawford Rules Out Fighting Danny Garcia And Keith Thurman – ‘How The Tables Have Turned’
Terence Crawford has dismissed the idea of fighting Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman.
Both fighters were open to the idea of facing Bud in light of claims that he could move up to 154. Crawford is expected to face Errol Spence Jr. once again after the latter exercised his rematch clause which could take place at junior middleweight. That would place Thurman and Garcia as possible opponents later down the line. Although both fighters do not possess any belts, a bout would generate a lot of interest. Thurman is a former unified welterweight champion having held the WBA and WBC titles. Meanwhile, Garcia is a two-weight world champion. The boxer was a former unified champion at 140, having had the WBA, WBC, Ring magazine and lineal titles. Meanwhile, Garcia also won the WBC welterweight title. Therefore, both fighters felt they had a legitimate claim to facing Crawford.
“I think it’s possible. I think it’s possible. We do got history. I think it’s more on my end. I gotta go out there and look good in my next fight,” Garcia stated
“You’re legacy is your legacy. It’s already done. You made it; you did it. I was avoided before I had a title. Now that I don’t have a title, I’m avoided again. I’m a threat. I’m the toughest fight that anybody can have at 147. I’m the fighter that said, ‘I got an O, and I’m not afraid to let it go,” Thurman said
Despite this being the case, Crawford has no intention of fighting either fighter. Bud made it clear that he had been sidelined once he was targeting the big fights. But now that he is the undisputed welterweight champion, he has called on Thurman and Garcia to face each other.
My my how the tables have turned. @DannySwift you @keithfthurmanjr will never and I mean never get a shot at the top dog and that’s me. Y’all hoe assess didn’t want no smoke when I wanted to fight member. Now y’all want to fight so bad 🤣🤣🤣 go keep fighting each other like b4

Since those comments both Thurman and Garcia have responded. And in doing so, the two fighters aimed to distance themselves in light of the backlash that was coming from Bud.
“We could have fought in October, but you fought some nobody,” said Thurman about Crawford fighting David Avanesyan last year. Were things political when you were over there with [Top Rank promoter] Bob [Arum]? Yeah. Are you king of the hill now? Yeah,” Thurman
