Crawford Says Benavidez is Doubting Him
Back in the summer, when Terence Crawford was challenging then-WBO Welterweight Champion Jeff Horn, many saw Crawford as a heavy favorite but that Horn unquestionably could use size and strength to give him trouble. But Crawford easily manhandled Horn for the win and title.
Crawford expects not much different when he is challenged by Jose Benavidez Jr on Oct. 13 in the main event of a Top Rank card. Benavidez has about four inches on Crawford, but the champion isn’t concerned and has an idea of Benavidez’s plan and how to counter it.
“He tries to walk his opponents down, which I don’t believe he’s gonna be able to do that to me,” Crawford said. “I think he’s underestimating my size and my power. But come fight night, once he feel it he’s gonna know that he’s not gonna be able to just walk in, with his hands down.”
Everybody made a big issue about Jeff Horn was one of the bigger welterweights in the division, and we seen how that played out. So I’m not worried about how he fares in size against me and what he thinks. Come fight night, we’re gonna see.
