Crawford To Spence: “Sign The Contract!”
Considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, Terence Crawford has taken down every opponent that has stepped in his path. When it comes to negotiations for big fights, that is a whole other battle.
Just a few weeks ago, Errol Spence Jr. defeated Shawn Porter via split decision to remain undefeated. The Long Islander was then confronted by Danny Garcia. It was expected that Spence (26-0) would face Manny Pacquiao or Crawford (35-0) instead, but it appears plans have changed. “Bud” is trying to change that narrative.
Speaking to TMZ, Crawford called Spence out, demanding him make the matchup a majority of boxing fans want to see.
Crawford, the WBO Weltweright Champion, fights under the Top Rank brand, which has a deal with ESPN. Spence fights through Premier Boxing Champions, who works with FOX and Showtime. Both Bob Arum (Crawford’s promotor) and Al Haymon (Spence’s promotor) rarely make fights together, which could result in a matchup between the two never happening.
As far as the potential of the match, Crawford believes he is the best opponent for Spence.
“I honestly believe when it comes to him … deep down in his heart, he knows what he’s up against when he goes up against me.”
