Thurman takes on Tsyzu for his first fight since 2022 when he beat Mario Barrios. It will be PBC’s first PPV on Amazon Prime Video, giving Thurman a huge platform to display his skills. The 35-year-old has been inactive lately, fighting only once since his defeat to Manny Pacquaio in 2019.
That was the only defeat of his career, but the former Unified Welterweight Champion knows that at 35, the big fights are few and far between. Thurman stood alongside Romero, the WBA Junior Welterweight Champion, to promote the fight. Romero takes on Isaac Cruz in the co-main event, but Crawford could not help but tease Thurman over their interaction.
“Rolly sounds like he yo girlfriend,” Crawford
Thurman was linked with a fight against Spence at 154 pounds, only for Crawford to get the nod for the Undisputed Welterweight Championship. Crawford would comprehensively stop Spence in the ninth round, leaving Thurman out of the picture. ‘One Time’ looked back at the bout, claiming it would have been much different if he got his shot against Crawford or Spence.
“The truth is, Crawford never got to see Keith Thurman. The truth is if it was Thurman vs. Spence, y’all should know what would have happened that night [last July, the night that Crawford stopped Spence in the ninth round]. The truth is if it was Thurman vs. Crawford, it would have been a whole another fight,” Thurman stated
If Thurman comes out victorious against Tszyu, that could be a good fight for Bud to enter into the 154-pound division if he fails to get the Canelo Alvarez fight at 168.
