Cris Cyborg Criticizes PFL For Delays In Negotiations Following Kayla Harrison’s Exit

Cris Cyborg, the Bellator Featherweight Champion, has hit out at the PFL’s slow-paced negotiations.

Cyborg aimed to secure a bout with Kayla Harrison. They were linked with a fight following the PFL’s acquisition of Bellator. Donn Davis, the PFL Chairman, was confident the fight would happen, as Cyborg was also keen.

“I talked to my team, we want to do big fights and I think that Kayla Harrison should be next. Cat Zingano was a great fight, I could have finished my career with that one, but I think Kayla Harrison is another great one. I could finish my career after that, too,” Cyborg said

That all changed as Harrison left and signed with the UFC. The news followed after Cyborg had just secured a knockout win over Kelsey Wickstrum in her third boxing fight, as Harrison’s appearance at UFC 300 against Holly Holm was confirmed. The Featherweight Champion will now focus on other targets.

Leah McCourt and Larissa Pacheco have been mentioned. Pacheco, the 2023 PFL Women’s Featherweight Tournament Champion, was seen as the favorite. Pacheco has won her last nine contests, including a win over Harrison. While that fight appeared likely, the PFL has yet to officially book it, causing Cyborg to respond.

Harrison hit back, suggesting that Cyborg was the one to blame for the fight not happening.

However, Donn Davis was confident that the fight would still get made even with Harrison’s departure.
