Cris Cyborg Wants Ronda Rousey To Return To MMA
Cris Cyborg, Bellator women’s featherweight champion and Ronda Rousey fan, believes that Rousey could achieve so much more in this sport. After making her debut against Simone Silva at Fight Music Show, Cyborg still has plans to compete in MMA.
The Brazilian-American athlete would be returning to Bellator to defend her 145lb championship. When she used to fight in the UFC Octagon, there were always rumors about a potential fight between her and Rousey.
“I wish the best for Ronda, she did great [things] for MMA,” Cyborg said of Rousey. “I think it’s sad when you lose and you stop fighting and you go to WWE.”
She added, “I think you have to show your fans that even if you lose, you can come back and overcome your struggle. I believe maybe [if] she’s coming back, it would be great for history.”
However, the fight between the two of them never materialized. Despite the setback in terms of the bout, Cyborg and Rousey created one of the most heated MMA rivalries in recent times.
“I think she said she would maybe go back to fight Gina Carano. I don’t think [a fight between us] is ever going to happen,” Cyborg said. “In my mind, the time it was supposed to happen, she didn’t want it.”
