Cro Cop Passes Drug Test For Bellator 200
For now it seems Mirko Cro Cop is set for his Bellator 200 fight with Roy Nelson.
Per a report from MMA Fighting, Cro Cop met with the Director of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation, Mike Mazzulli on April 5th to take an out-of-competition drug test.
Mazzulli, who as president of the Association of Boxing commissions and Combative Sports, oversses Bellator’s events outside North America, traveled Croatia to collect the sample.
Th 43 year old Croatian is set to fight Roy Nelson on May 25th at Bellator 200 in London. His signing has been under fire due to being under USADA Suspension for admitting use of HGH in 2015.
While USADA Suspensions are noted in the ABC internal database, Athletic commissions are not mandated to honor them.
Mazzulli told MMA Fighting last month that it was only fair to allow Cro Cop to fight for Bellator, since it has been over two years since his admission, provided he passes the necessary out-of-competition drug tests
“I always look out for the best interests of the fighters,” Mazzulli said.
“Cro Cop has not fought in the United States for a while. He was suspended for two years. I’m 110-percent positive that if any other commission in the ABC — in the United States — if they had him suspended, I would not have him fight. I highly doubt Bellator would allow him to fight.”
