Cro Cop vs. Nelson Being Planned For Bellator 217

Bellator is re-attempting to book the rematch between Mirko Cro Cop and Roy Nelson.

According to a report from ESPN, Bellator is planning to have Cro Cop fight Nelson at Bellator 217, scheduled to take place on February 16, 2019. The fight would be a rematch from their UFC 137 bout, of which Nelson emerged victorious.

The fight was originally set to take place at Bellator 200 and it was supposed to be Cro Cop’s debut with the company. Cro Cop had to withdraw from the fight due to an injury. Since then, Cro Cop returned to RIZIN, where he scored a TKO victory over Roque Martinez back in September, extending his win streak to nine fights.

Nelson, on the other hand, will be looking to snap his two-fight losing streak after being eliminated from the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix in the first round thanks to a loss to Matt Mitrione and then would get knocked out by Sergei Kharitonov. Nelson has not won since a unanimous decision win over Javy Ayala in 2017 in Nelson’s Bellator debut.

Bellator 217 is currently set to take place at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. That event will be headlined by Paul Daley vs. Michael Page. Also scheduled for the card is a heavyweight bout between Vitaly Minakov and Cheick Kongo.
