Cruz vs. Roach Targeted For December

WBC Interim Junior Welterweight Champion Isaac Cruz could headline against Lamont Roach on either December 6 or December 20 in Texas.

The fight would be the first title defense for Cruz, who secured his WBC interim title with a unanimous decision victory over Omar Salcido in July. Meanwhile, Roach is coming off a controversial majority draw with Gervonta Davis in March, a fight that many believe he should have won.

The controversy stemmed from a missed knockdown call in the ninth round, which, if it had been called, would have given Roach the win. Roach was originally scheduled for a rematch with Davis, but that plan fell through after Davis agreed to a boxing exhibition with Jake Paul in November. The WBA has not stripped Roach of his WBA belt at 130, having not defended the belt since beating Feargal McCrory on June 28, 2024.
