Cyborg Gains US Citizenship

According to an AP report Cris "Cyborg" Justino has become a full-fledged US citizen during a naturalization ceremony she took part in this morning. She was among 2300 others at the Los Angeles Convention Center that took the oath of citizenship.

Justino was grateful for the support America has shown her, "The first time I went to America, I had the opportunity to fight here and people really appreciate my work and appreciate my sport," she said, continuing on to discuss her happiness at the opportunity to vote and contribute positively.

"It’s an opportunity for me (to) give back for the American community what they give to me. I can vote. I can participate more.”

Justino came to the United States on a visa for competitive athletes in 2008 and later applied for a green card.  She has lived in California for seven years and currently resides in Huntington Beach.
