Cyborg To Test Free Agency/Wrestling After UFC 240

What’s next for Cris Cyborg?

The former UFC featherweight champion returns to action in the co-main event of UFC 240 against Felicia Spencer, and after that, Cyborg becomes a free agent.

While the UFC has an exclusive negotiating window with the former champion, Cyborg wants to test the value of the market before putting pen to paper.

“I want to see other promoters, see how much value I have,” Justino told Helwani. “I think it’s cool to see that before you can hear anything [about] that you don’t have value. Let’s see. Let’s see what another promoter has to say.”

Cyborg rode a 13 year winning streak before Amanda Nunes turned out her lights at UFC 232, derailing a run that saw Cyborg win titles in the UFC, Strikeforce and Invicta FC.

Entering into what will be a contentious period between the UFC and herself, UFC president Dana White said at the UFC 238 press conference, that he was not sure if Cyborg wants the rematch against Nunes,

“Funny, I was at home and watching the press conference and I cannot believe Dana White said that,” Cyborg said, claiming White was attempting to “damage her brand.”

“Why not?” Cyborg said of testing the free market. “The opportunity is coming and I have the opportunity to see my value with other promoters, I don’t know.”

On option that Cyborg has openly discussed on social media is a move into the pro wrestling industry, visiting All Elite Wrestling’s event and taking part in the neighboring Starrcast convention this past May.

“It’s hard to be a pro wrestler,” Justino said. “They work very hard. They’re very athletic. Maybe. I did training before a little bit.”
