Cynthia Calvillo To Battle Nina Nunes On July 9
You can feel the hype as UFC’s women’s flyweight matchup is going to take place between Cynthia Calvillo (9-4-1) and Nina Nunes (8-0-5).
This match-up will take place on July 9, with the venue yet to be decided. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to break this news.
Calvillo is striving to get back into winning ways after a poor run of form featuring three consecutive losses.
In her most recent match in November last year, the 34-year-old lost to Andrea Lee through corner stoppage. In that match, Calvillo suffered from a broken orbital bone. Her last win came against Jessica Eye around two years ago.
As for Nunes, she has also had a difficult period like her fellow American fighter. She has suffered consecutive losses against Tatiana Suarez and Mackenzie Dern.
Before this poor form, the 36-year-old had won four fights in a row, featuring battles against Claudia Gadelha and Angela Hill.
Alongside this fight, the only other fight scheduled for now is the bantamweight matchup between Ronnie Lawrence and Saidyokub Kakhramonov.
However, the spotlight is for now on Calvillo and Nunes, who are both looking forward to putting an end to their winless run.
