Dakota Ditcheva (16-0, 12 KOs) broke both hands during her July 31 victory over Denise Kielholtz (9-6, 2 KOs) at PFL New York.
On August 6, Ditcheva told fans on social media that she was taking time for herself and feeling “slightly emotional” promising a futher update on Youtube.
Three days later, she revealed on her “post-fight catch up” that she felt the injury at the start of the second round but chose not to inform her corner, completing the fight before seeking medical attention.
The unbeaten PFL star confirmed she is back in splints while her surgeon determines the next stage of treatment.
Ditcheva explained that the damage was linked to an existing injury. She had previously decided against surgery despite being warned that her hands could break again.
“Unfortunately, I took the risk in not doing the surgery,” Ditcheva added. “I’m paying the price for it now and I will be out for a little bit.”
The setback is expected to keep Ditcheva sidelined as she recovers, delaying her momentum following a successful return from a lengthy absence.
