Dan Hardy Reacts To Israel Adesanya’s Post-Fight UFC 253 Antics
UFC color commentator Dan Hardy has chimed in on Israel Adesanya’s antics following his UFC 253 victory.
On September 26, Adesanya put his UFC Middleweight Championship on the line against Paulo Costa. The championship fight headlined UFC 253 inside the Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. “The Last Stylebender” emerged victorious via second-round TKO. After the fight, Adesanya went behind Costa and proceeded to “ride” him.
While some are taking the stance that Adesanya’s antics simply allowed him to blow off steam from his heated feud with Costa, others thought it went too far. Hardy sides with the latter.
Speaking to media members during a scrum, Hardy expressed his belief that Adesanya’s antics went overboard (via MMAFighting.com).
“It was crass, is the truth. It was unnecessary and it was crass. It’s not good for the sport to be seeing those things, but at the same time we see a lot of the superstars they stand out, they create headlines because of the thing that they do. [Adesanya] was urinating on the octagon in his UFC debut. We shouldn’t be surprised by these things.”
Adesanya improved his pro MMA record to 20-0. He has 15 knockouts to his credit. UFC President Dana White has said that Jared Cannonier will likely be next in line for a shot at Adesanya’s 185-pound gold if he gets past Robert Whittaker.
As for Costa, he’s been asking for an immediate rematch. Given how one-sided his fight with “The Last Stylebender” was, “Borrachinha” will likely have to go back to the drawing board first.
