Dana Talks Cejudo Return Fight
Henry Cejudo winning the bantamweight title injected more life into a thriving division, but now following surgery, don’t expect a return anytime soon.
On-top of Cejudo needing to sit for the rest of 2019, “Triple C” will have to defend his flyweight title upon return to the Octagon for the long awaited rematch against Joe Benavidez.
“Joe (Benavidez), yeah,” UFC President Dana White told TMZ Sports. “Next he should defend that title. He would go to 125, defend that title, then we would decide who he fights next. As long as Cejudo is willing to defend both titles, I think he is a guy who can carry both of them, both divisions.”
This comes as the bantamweight’s division continues to showcase its depth with Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan rising in the ranks and the devastating return of Urijah Faber, who dropped Ricky Simon in under a minute at UFC Sacramento.
Who do you think will step into the Octagon to face Cejudo at 135 pounds? Let us know on Facebook and Twitter
