Dana White did not take credit for Conor McGregor’s ESPN televised mea culpa last week but is happy his top star seems to have come to his senses.
During the post-event scrum for the Tuesday Night Contender Series on August 28th, White discussed his thoughts on McGregor’s hour-long interview with Ariel Helwani and made it clear that the UFC had no hand in swaying McGregor.
“Conor and I talk at least a couple times a month and I think he needed to do that,” White said of McGregor’s apology. “I didn’t tell him to do it. He did that on his own and good for him.”
When asked about allegations reported by the New York Times early this year that McGregor was under investigation for a potential sexual assault in a Dublin hotel room, White admitted he knew.
“I know zero about that,” White responded when asked about the sexual assault allegations. “To be honest with you, the back and forth that I’ve had with him about that, it’s not him. It’s somebody else so I don’t know.”
