Dana White: Chandler Can Afford To Wait For McGregor

Dana White has played down any suggestions that Michael Chandler is getting frustrated by waiting for a Conor McGregor fight.

The two fighters have been linked with a fight since they appeared on the TUF 31 series. However, several issues have resulted in that failing to get made. Following McGregor’s injury and loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, the Irishman took his time to enroll into USADA. The organization requires fighters to submit two negative samples across six months before they can fight. The MMA fighter, however, missed the deadline for 2023. The hopes of then fighting at UFC 300 were dismissed, with White ruling that out. Despite that long delay, White felt Chandler was in a good position to deal with the wait.

“The good thing for guys like Chandler, and you know there’s a lot of sh*t talk about fighter pay and all that other sh*t – you don’t see these guys hurrying up to fight. Jon Jones takes off for f***ing years. Chandler can hang out and wait for f***ing Conor. When you think about Chandler, Chandler was fighting for f***ing Bellator, right? Now Chandler can just sit around and take his time and wait for Conor however long it takes, so these guys are all in good positions where they can wait for the right time, the right fight,” White stated

Nevertheless, McGregor has also spoken about wanting to have a trilogy with Nate Diaz. And since that fight is arguably bigger, McGregor vs. Chandler is nailed on until it is signed.
