Dana White confirms his plan for winner of McGregor vs Poirier trilogy
UFC President Dana White has affirmed that the winner of the Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier fight will be next in line to take on Lightweight Champion Charles Oliviera. McGregor and Poirier are set to put their bad blood to rest on July 10 at the UFC 264 main-event.
The Notorious won the first showdown in 2014, whereas the Diamond pulled one back in January to make it 1-1. In a virtual interview, Dana White seemed eager to see how the main-event will unfold so that his company can frame the next line of action accordingly.
The UFC boss is also intrigued to find out what his company’s biggest superstar has in mind after the fight concludes.
“Listen, Conor McGregor is a competitor. All you’ve got to do is look. The guy has a ton of money. He doesn’t need to fight anymore. He wants to fight,” White insisted.
“He’s a fighter to the core. What’s at stake is, yes, he wants to be back on top. He goes in there and beats the No. 1 guy in the world, he’s probably going to get the next title shot. The other thing Conor McGregor likes probably more than the competition is money. When he fights, he makes a sh*tload of money. These are all still very important things to him at this point in his life.”
