Dana White Reacts To Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno
UFC President Dana White has heaped praise on Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno.
On December 12, Figueiredo put the UFC Flyweight Championship on the line against Moreno. The title fight headlined UFC 256 inside the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. Figueiredo and Moreno went the distance in a “Fight of the Year” contender. The bout was ruled a majority draw.
Speaking to reporters during the post-fight press conference, White said he didn’t know what to expect from Figueiredo and Moreno since they had a quick turnaround but he was beyond pleased with what transpired (h/t MMAFighting.com).
“I didn’t know, you don’t know. Then you start wondering, ‘Well, we’re gonna find out when this thing gets into the fourth and fifth round’ and things like that. Seriously, we throw the word around a lot, but these two are seriously f*ckin’ savages. Both of these guys are absolute savages.”
When asked about a potential rematch between Figueiredo and Moreno, White made it clear that he’s onboard.
“You absolutely, positively do that rematch. That’s another fun fight for us all to look forward to in 2021.”
Figueiredo had a five-fight winning streak going before the draw with Moreno. As for Moreno, he has had two draws in his last six outings. The rest of the fights in that span have been victories.
Figueiredo vs. Moreno is in an elite category when discussing the best fights of 2020. Many believe the bout is a serious contender with the likes of Weili Zhang vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Dustin Poirier vs. Dan Hooker.
