Dana White Refutes Makhachev’s White House Claims
Following UFC Welterweight Champion Islam Makhachev’s post claiming lightweight champion Ilia Topuria priced himself out of their showdown at UFC Freedom 250, UFC CEO Dana White has stepped in to clarify the promotion’s stance.
White dismissed the idea that a contract was ever finalized—or even formally offered—to both men for the June 14, 2026, White House card. Topuria accused Islam of using his hand injury as an excuse to get out of the fight. While Makhachev insisted he “accepted the fight” only for Topuria’s management to demand “unrealistic” money, White painted a different picture. White was blunt in his assessment of the rumors: “That’s not true. It was never Islam versus Topuria. Don’t worry about what fights are being made… we announced the ones that are happening.”
