Dana White Regrets Letting Shane Burgos Sign With PFL
Shane Burgos was not resigned to the UFC, and Dana White has admitted that it was a mistake.
On Monday, Burgos announced on The MMA Hour that he had signed a deal with the Professional Fighters League. He had fought out his contract with the UFC. Back in July, Burgos beat Charles Jourdain at UFC Long Island, entering free agency.
During an interview with Yahoo! Sports, White opened up about Burgos leaving the UFC.
“Basically, there were some mistakes that were made here, some s– that… he should’ve still been here,” White said. “I respect him very much and I wish him the best.
“100 percent [mistakes were made], 100 percent. Big mistakes were made over here.”
On the MMA Hour, Burgos believed he would be in better hands at PFL, the UFC’s offer having to take multiple fights to match PFL’s offer. He would also be given the opportunity to commemorate with the PFL.
“When it’s all said and done after the first season — obviously, I plan on winning — I’ll be a multi-millionaire,” Burgos said.
